EXERCISE: Cardio Every Day: A Birdseye's Perspective

Hey Rifat,

Cardio every day is not always the best approach to fitness.

Cardio is a great way to improve your CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTHBURN CALORIES, and LOSE WEIGHT.

But too much cardio can lead to OVERTRAININGINJURIES, and BURNOUT.

So, how much cardio should you do each day?

It depends on your INDIVIDUAL GOALSFITNESS LEVELS, and OVERALL HEALTH.

But a good general rule of thumb is to aim for 30-60 minutes of moderate-intensity cardio most days of the week.

If you're new to exercise, start with 20-30 minutes of cardio a few times per week and GRADUALLY increase the DURATION and INTENSITY of your workouts as you get fitter.

And be sure to LISTEN to your body. If you're feeling tired, sore, or sick, take a day off.

Here are some tips for doing cardio in a healthy and sustainable way:

  • MIX UP your workouts. Try different types of cardio, such as running, swimming, biking, and dancing. This will help to keep your workouts interesting and prevent boredom.
  • Find an activity you ENJOY. If you don't like running, don't force yourself to do it. There are plenty of other ways to get your cardio fix.
  • LISTEN to your body. If you're feeling tired, sore, or sick, take a day off.
  • Don't neglect STRENGTH TRAINING. Strength training is important for building muscle and strength, which can help to improve your athletic performance and reduce your risk of injuries.

Here is a sample workout routine that you can try:

Warm-up:

  • 5 minutes of light cardio, such as walking or jogging
  • 10 reps of each of the following exercises: Push-ups, Pull-ups, Squats & Lunges

Workout:

  • 30-60 minutes of moderate-intensity cardio, such as running, swimming, biking, or dancing

Cool-down:

  • 5 minutes of light cardio
  • 10 reps of each of the following stretches: Hamstring stretch, Quadriceps stretch, Calf stretch, Chest stretch & Shoulder stretch
