So, we persevere. There were 9 of us at the  Dax Fitness  gym that night - including my wife, my son & I.  My son prefer to follow us to the gym, instead of working out at home. Shoulder-Width Apart: A good starting point for most people is to place your hands  shoulder -width apart. This means your hands are approximately the same distance apart as your  shoulders . This position provides a balanced distribution of effort across your back and arms, making it a solid choice for a well-rounded pull-up workout. 2. Narrower Grip: If you're looking to target your biceps more, consider a narrower grip. Bringing your hands closer together on the pull-up bar will engage your biceps to a greater extent. This is often referred to as a "close-grip"  pull-up . 3. Wider Grip: On the flip side, if you want to focus more on your back muscles, go for a wider grip.
